LSU Football: 3 fits for Jabril Cox in 2021 NFL Draft
Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins are slowly building one of the best defenses in the league, but need help at linebacker. When you put up their secondary versus the rest of the league they are right at the top. The front seven can be hit or miss however depending on the day. Brian Flores another Patriot coaching tree coach, has come in and started to revamp this team. They have only gotten better under him and look to continue.
The Dolphins have multiple picks in the first and second round.
This allows for a lot of versatility with their draft. I would expect them to go offense with the first three picks, attacking receiver, running back, and offensive line. They need to give Tua last year first round pick a much better offense to thrive in. After that, it should be pinpointed at linebacker and pass rush.
There are far more EDGE players in this class than traditional linebackers, so waiting on one and going linebacker would be a valuable move.
Getting the best linebacker they can while sacrificing a little talent at EDGE would make more sense, than getting a sub-par linebacker with an early pick. With the secondary as good as it is in Miami, Cox should be able to do just about anything he wants. From pass rush to pass coverage, and know that the outside has him covered. Which could allow him a more fluid transition to the NFL, being asked to do less with a solid second behind him.
Out of all the landing spots for Cox, I think this makes the most sense at position versus value, and the best place he can go to thrive. He has a chance to be the next big LSU Football defender.
