Wide Receivers

Perhaps the most depleted position on the Lions roster. This wide receiver class has the talent that could get the team a true top option. There is not going to be a person worth taking one overall, so if the team wants to draft one with their first pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, they will need to trade down.

With their first pick, there are two options worth mentioning: Garrett Wilson and Treylon Burks. Wilson, the best receiver on the Ohio State team, has some of the best body control in recent years. He has some great ball skills and speed to match. Wilson would be the instant WR1 in Detroit and is a top-2 receiver in the 2022 NFL Draft.

The other top receiver is Treylon Burks. Burks plays a very similar role to Chris Godwin. He can make plays like a deep receiver, slot receiver, or YAC specialist. His highlight plays come from every alignment he can run routes from and it’s a pleasure to watch. If the Lions stick with Jared Goff, Burks would be his best friend.

At the end of the first round, there are multiple options the team could target. The name that stands out above the rest is Drake London, from USC. London is a big-bodied, jump-ball receiver who has surprising athleticism for his size profile. An ideal situation for Drake London with the Lions is by having a quarterback other than Jared Goff throwing him the ball. Goff will not be able to utilize his deep ball skills due to his minimal arm strength. Now, onto the edge rushers.
