With the NFL season flying ball, contenders have started to emerge while fans of some teams have already given up on competing in 2022. As a result, some eyes have started turning to the 2023 NFL Draft as teams start to “battle” for draft positioning. With a few good quarterback prospects along with the talented Will Anderson and Jalen Carter, finishing with a top-five selection could go a long way to help a struggling team turn around.

The debut season in Las Vegas for coach Josh McDaniels quickly transformed from a dream to a nightmare. Flashy defensive offseason acquisition Chandler Jones has struggled in Sin City while the Derek Carr to Davante Adams connection hasn’t quite translated from their successful college days. Most recently, an embarrassing shut-out loss to the lowly Andy Dalton-led Saints even led to owner Mark Davis having to publicly support his new coach.

2023 NFL Draft most likely top pick?

Las Vegas Raiders

It wasn’t that long ago that it appeared the Raiders had finally turned the corner when they knocked off the Chargers to claim the last playoff spot in the AFC a season ago. If the team continues to sputter, they would have a couple of avenues they could explore at the 2023 NFL Draft to help get them back into contention.

First, they could look to move on from Carr and re-set the rookie quarterback contract with the selection of Bryce Young, Caleb Stroud or Will Levis. Conversely, they could add Anderson or Carter and hope to boost a pass rush that has seen 67% of sacks come exclusively from Maxx Crosby.
