Brian Branch would be the perfect player to pair with Derwin James

The Los Angeles Chargers have one of the best safeties in the NFL in Derwin James but after him, there are some question marks. Last year’s starter was Nasir Adderley but he struggled at times and is set to be a free agent this offseason.

It may be early to add another safety with their first pick in the 2023 NFL Draft but again with a team that doesn’t have many glaring needs, it wouldn’t be overly surprising to see them take one of the best at the position to pair with James.

One of those players is Brian Branch, who previously played for the University of Alabama. He is more of a strong safety or a player that excels closer to the line of scrimmage, as evidenced by his 90 total tackles and 14.0 tackles for a loss. However, if improving the run defense is a priority a player like Brian Branch is a good fit.
