Atlanta Falcons look to add to their defense in this 2023 NFL Mock Draft after finishing the 2022 season with a 7-10 record

The 2022 season was always going to be a transition year for the Atlanta Falcons. Prior to the season, the Falcons traded long-time quarterback Matt Ryan to the Indianapolis Colts and then during the season traded Deion Jones and Calvin Ridley.

It seemed like this was the first year that head coach Arthur Smith really got to put his stamp on the team and the results were mixed as they finished the year 7-10. However, there was a lot of positives to build off of as rookies like Desmond Riddler and Tyler Allgeier got valuable experience and showed serious promise.

Atlanta Falcons improve the defensive side of the ball with five players drafted on that side in this 2023 NFL Mock Draft

One of the areas the Falcons really struggled last year was on defense after allowing the sixth most yards per game (362.1) and 10th most points per game (22.7). However in this 2023 NFL Mock Draft, run on Pro Football Network’s Mock Draft Simulator, the Falcons should improve on those by adding players at all three levels starting up front with the eighth overall pick.
