On Wednesday, ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reveals that the Carolina Panthers have made their decision for their selection with the #1 overall pick in 2023.  The Panthers are apparently set on selection Alabama’s Bryce Young with the #1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft:

Here’s some of the excerpt below:

"“Bryce Young is the pick. … They all love Bryce Young,” Mortensen said. “I think I’ll quote Adam Schefter, who said this reminds him of when the 49ers moved up all the way to No. 3 with intentions of drafting Mac Jones and then changed their minds at the last minute and drafted Trey Lance. That has not worked out for the 49ers. I think the Panthers were on Bryce Young from the start and will stick with him when it’s time to turn in that card.”"

Bryce Young has largely been seen as the best quarterback in the 2023 class, but his short height and slim frame have presented valid concerns.  I mean, he’s the size of slot cornerback and is playing the most important position in all of sports.

I personally disagree with this move by the Panthers if this is indeed the case.  I think CJ Stround is the best all around player, but I can easily see why a team would prefer Young.

The Houston Texans might be at the mercy of who the Panthers take, as I’m sure they have Young and Stroud as the top two players on their board.

There’s a new era in Carolina headlined by head coach Frank Reich and the stellar staff he assembled.  Whoever they choose to pick, I think they’ll be in great hands.

There will surely be a bunch more rumors swirling between now and the beginning of the 2023 NFL Draft, but according to Mortensen, the Panthers have made up their minds.

No matter who they do pick, I think the Panthers can easily win the NFC South this season.
