san francisco 49ers. 2. team. 42. You gotta love a team that prepared for the draft with their moves in free agency. That’s what the San Francisco 49ers did, signing QB Brian Hoyer and WRs Pierre Garcon and Marquise Goodwin. Say what you want about Hoyer but he has played well and led a team to the playoffs before.
So the 49ers were able to focus on the defensive side of the ball, where there are more quality players. They started it all off with Solomon Thomas, another one of those freak athlete DEs. Then after that, they traded up in the bottom of the first round to snag ILB Reuben Foster.

Most draft experts expected the 49ers to take Thomas at No. 2 but Foster is a top-5 talent. Some are put off by his diluted urine sample but his drink-water-to-weigh-more story could be true. We’ll see as his career goes on but right now, the 49ers have a steal to add to their defense.

The 49ers are running that, Cover 3/Cover 1, press-bail coverage now so 6’3″ CB Ahkello Witherspoon is a good pick. That’s three starters to combine with DLs DeForest Buckner and Arik Armstead, ILB Navorro Bowman and company. Something tells me the 49er defense is back and 2017 will be a better year.
. — A++.
