Jalen Hurts QB
STOCK DOWN
Yes, Jalen Hurts and the Oklahoma Sooners made an improbable comeback against the undefeated Baylor Bears in a game where he did not have standout wide receiver CeeDee Lamb or running back Trey Sermon. However the reason the Sooners found themselves down early on was because of Hurts and his turnovers; with one interception and two fumbles lost, Hurts continues to show issues with ball security.

Additionally, Oklahoma head coach continues to mask a ton of Hurts’ weaknesses under-center by limiting his pre-snap reads and progressions offensively. While Hurts has a ton of flash to his game, rushing for 114 yards in addition to throwing for nearly 300 yards, there is not a ton of substance.
Coming out of college, Lamar Jackson showed more as a passer than Jalen Hurts is. In Riley’s offensive system, Hurts is generally asked to make one read, two at the most before tucking the ball and running. This simplification of reads at the college level will not cut it at the next level.
Hurts finished the game with a quarterback rating of just 64.8 while the Sooners snuck out of Waco, Texas with a 34-31 win over Baylor despite going down 28-3 early on. With the Big 12 championship game well in sight, Hurts still has time to raise his draft stock.
