3. Javon Kinlaw, DL, South Carolina

There’s a reason that the opening slide mentioned how deep the defensive line is in the 2020 NFL Draft senior class, as Javon Kinlaw takes the third overall spot here. If it weren’t for the meteoric rise of Burrow, we’d be talking so much more about Kinlaw this season.

Kinlaw has six sacks and six tackles for loss this season, which are great numbers for a defensive tackle. Like Derrick Brown mentioned earlier, teams are now being forced to double him along the line to avoid him wrecking an entire game.

Kinlaw is a great athlete for his 6’6″, 310 pound frame and it shows up constantly on tape. He’s explosive with his first step and he gets upfield quickly to create pressure from the interior. He has a high motor to to continue to press the issue at the point of attack. He has improved in 2019 against the run, using his hands better to get off blocks and make plays.

Kinlaw still needs a little more refinement as a rusher, but the athletic tools make the potential sky high with him as a prospect. He will get to show his improved abilities down at Mobile, which should impress NFL teams even more.
