EDGE. Penn State. Yetur Gross-Matos. 99. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 806

Yetur Gross-Matos is clearly the top NFL prospect to watch in the Cotton Bowl. He is a Junior, however, and has already declared for the 2020 NFL Draft. In his statement, Gross-Matos mentioned that he is dressing for the Nittany Lions in this bowl game, but it remains to be seen how much he will actually play. Gross-Matos has been a terror off the edge this season with 13.5 tackles for loss and 8.0 sacks, both of which lead the team.

More from With the First Pick

Gross-Matos has excellent size and length for the next level as he is listed at 6-foot-4 and 265 pounds with very long arms and legs. He has a very quick reaction combined with an excellent first step and upfield burst. He shows the ability to get good body lean to turn the corner despite his long legs. He is also solid against the run as someone who sets the edge well and is a sure tackler at the point of attack.  If there is one major area that Gross-Matos needs to improve, it’s in his hand usage to beat blocks more easily and consistently.

As stated above, Gross-Matos has already declared his intentions to enter the 2020 NFL Draft. While he is dressing for Penn State one final time, he likely won’t see the field as much as he did throughout the regular season. Even so, expect him to make multiple disruptive plays off the edge and create havoc to Memphis’ offensive gameplan.
