How Tom Brady’s decision affects multiple NFL Franchises
After twenty years and six Super Bowls in New England, could Tom Brady ever really wear another helmet?
Tom Brady has spent the last twenty years as the main beneficiary of “The Patriot way”. Head coach Bill Belichick has built an empire that may never be replicated again, in any sport. Over two decades of dominance has featured incredible defenses and record breaking offenses. Belichick has taken players who were essentially nobody’s into impact players for playoff teams.

If Tom Brady is to stay in New England, the Patriots would have to lose a key free agent. Guard Joe Thuney, linebacker, Kyle Van Noy, and safety Devin McCourty are all impending free agents. With Brady making it clear he will not be taking any hometown discounts this time around, New England may have to lose one, maybe even two, of those listed previously. New England has just over $43 Million in cap space.
If Brady stays, New England should be loading up for one more super bowl run. In 2019, the Patriots struggled offensively, partly because of Brady’s regression, but also due to inconsistency with his weapons.New England needs help at the receiver position. Even though Julian Edleman is already on the roster, the Patriots could use a deep threat. Another way this offense could get back on track is getting former all-pro tight end, Rob Gronkowski, to come out of retirement. The offense struggled mightily without Gronkowski.
If Brady decides to leave New England, they should refrain from panicking. The New England Patriots are still a super bowl contender without Brady. If the Patriots can get someone competent to play Quarterback in this system, with this roster, they are still one of the top teams in the AFC. Obviously, Bill Belichick and the Patriots should want Brady back, but the world is not ending if he leaves.
