With the sixth pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Chargers select Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert

The Los Angeles Chargers have a much better roster than their 5-11 record in 2019 shows. Year after year they seem to have terrible luck on the injury front with multiple serious injuries to key players every year. That said, General Manager Tom Telesco has done an excellent job of building the roster through the draft. Here he uses the sixth overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft on Justin Herbert.

Telesco has an excellent track record of selecting very good players in the early rounds. He is responsible for selecting stud players like Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Hunter Henry, Joey Bosa, and Derwin James in the first three rounds of various drafts throughout his tenure with the Chargers. Telesco will look to continue that good early round track record in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Combine those young stars with good free agent signings from the past few seasons like Bryan Bulaga, Mike Pouncey, Linval Joseph, Casey Hayward, and Chris Harris this roster is primed for a quick turnaround.

If they can enjoy better luck in avoiding the injury bug, the Chargers have a talented enough roster to compete for a playoff spot in 2020. For that to come to fruition, however, they will need Justin Herbert to play up to their lofty draft status.
