Chargers: 3 biggest challenges Justin Herbert faces in 2020

Facing Adversity
Justin Herbert is considered by most people to have an introverted personality. He’s a very laid back and humble person. People have questioned if that will be an issue for him if he’s asked to become a vocal leader on the team.
He can lack a killer instinct at times and he played down to competition on occasions. Quarterbacks need to be able to command the offense. Not everyone is a vocal leader and some would rather lead by example. I’m not sure if Herbert is ready for that type of responsibility.
This was a concern that a lot of evaluators talked about when Marcus Mariota was coming out of Oregon. For the first time in a long time he won’t be the big man on campus, and he will have to earn the respect of his teammates in the locker room. Tyrod Taylor will be the starter in week one if the football season goes on as scheduled and it will be interesting to see how that affects Justin.
His laid back personality won’t suit everyone. Herbert being a back up in his first year might be good for his personality. He’ll get to see how the team respects Tyrod Taylor and how he’s able to rally the troops in the most important moments.
