2021 NFL Draft: 3 fits for Gregory Rousseau after opting out
By Surae Poole
The Jets could use the services of Rousseau
The Jets have a clear need out on the edge to pair with Jordan Jenkins. Jenkins led the team with eight sacks in 2019. Last season the Jets ranked 23rd in the NFL with 35 sacks on the entire season. They lack the ability to consistently rush the quarterback.

The Jets haven’t had someone total 10 sacks in one season since 2015. The jury is still out on Quinnen Williams, after a disappointing 2019 rookie season, this coaching staff will be hoping to see significant improvement from him in 2020. Defensive coordinator Gregg Williams would love to get his hands on an athlete like Gregory Rousseau.
The depth at the edge rusher position on this roster is simply just weak. The roster consists of rotational guys and above-average talent at best. Rousseau would be an immediate day one starter and his athleticism alone would help generate pressure for a team in dire need of pass rush help.
Nobody expects the Jets to be good next season and they are in a position to land a supremely talented player. Pass rushers are a coveted position in the league and for good reason. I know the Jets would be betting on one season of tape from him but after looking at their roster, it’s incredibly difficult seeing them pass upon him.
