Round 2, Pick 35: Travis Etienne, RB, Clemson

Moving into the second round, the Falcons stick to the offensive side of the ball, shocking considering the overhaul they need on defense. However, with Fields landing in Atlanta first, they get him a weapon offensively to plug into their backfield with Todd Gurley playing out a one year deal (and not efficiently at that).

With the 35th overall pick in this 2021 NFL Draft, Atlanta gets the overly talented running back Travis Etienne to replace Gurley after the 2020 season. It is a solid bet that Gurley will not be back in Atlanta in 2021, leaving Ito Smith as the lead dog for their offense; this thought should make any fan squirm.

Instead, the Falcons are ready to add perhaps the most explosive player in the entire 2021 NFL Draft in Etienne as he has continued to light up the field for the Tigers in his Senior season. Etienne had the potential to be the first running back off the board in the 2020 NFL Draft, but opted to return to the Tigers. He will now look to accomplish that same goal this year.

Round 3, Pick 67: Kwity Paye, EDGE, Michigan

Finally the Falcons move to the defensive side of the ball, looking to upgrade a position where they are not getting any production. After signing Dante Fowler this offseason, Atlanta has not gotten much juice from him off the edge or from former first round pick Takk McKinley. With the third round pick in this mock draft, the Falcons go out and get Michigan pass rusher Kwity Paye.

With one of the higher ceilings in the class, named to Bruce Feldman’s Freaks List, Paye has a ton to gain when the Big Ten returns to play at the end of the month. Michigan has produced top edge rushers over the past two years in Rashan Gary and Joshua Uche, and this year is no different as Paye and teammate Aiden Hutchinson look to continue the tradition.

Here Paye lands in Atlanta in hopes of helping them spruce up their defense.
