Senior Bowl invites are stacking up as the 2021 NFL Draft nears

As the season begins to wind down (although it just started for some), the Reese’s Senior Bowl invitations are beginning to go out to prospective 2021 NFL Draft hopefuls who qualify. Earlier in the week, former Wake Forest and Georgia quarterback Jamie Newman got his invite after opting out of the 2020 season, giving us a chance to see him in live action.

Additionally, the Ole Miss Rebels got a couple of names invited to the event in the form of tight end Kenny Yeboah and offensive guard Royce Newman. Who are these new members of the Senior Bowl roster? Let’s take a look.

Looking at Kenny Yeboah’s 2021 NFL Draft outlook

Yeboah, after coming to Ole Miss from Temple as a graduate transfer, is already posting career numbers. Let me rephrase: Yeboah recorded only 538 yards and six touchdowns in four years at Temple; he has already racked up 470 yards and six touchdowns in five games with the Rebels.

More from With the First Pick

Looking as though transferring was the right call, Yeboah has seen his stock take a nice upward turn this year at Ole Miss. It is a fairly heavy crop of tight ends this year, led by the likes of Florida’s Kyle Pitts and Penn state’s Pat Freiermuth, but Yeboah has put himself firmly in the radar to hear his name called this upcoming April.

Get to know Royce Newman

With two years of starting experience under his belt with the Rebels, Newman enters his Redshirt Senior year looking to make a name for himself. Heading to the Senior Bowl will be a great way for him to get on the radar of NFL teams as his collegiate career winds to a close.

Starting at guard for the Rebels since 2018, Newman not only rocks one impressive mullet, but he has become a stronghold up front as they look to keep quarterback Matt Corral on his feet and ready to strike. He is certainly a key prospect who could see his stock rise with a great week in Mobile.

More Rebels to come?

In addition to Yeboah and Newman, Ole Miss could see a few more representatives in Mobile by the time we are all said and done. All-in-all, five Rebels were named to the Senior Bowl Top-250 Watchlist, meaning three more players are still on the radar of Senior Bowl director Jim Nagy.

Linebacker Lakia Henry, pass rusher Sam Williams, and defensive lineman Tariqious Tisdale remain of players from this watchlist. As the season continues to roll along, these three guys are worth monitoring, as they could be next to get their invite to the event.
