Florida State Football: McKenzie Milton looks to boost draft stock with Seminoles
By Cory Kinnan
Florida State football gets their biggest win of the season
The focal point of the Scott Frost era at the University of Central Florida was quarterback McKenzie Milton. He posted massive numbers in UCF’s undefeated 2017 season, and was having another successful season in 2018 before suffering a significant knee injury that has sidelined him for two straight seasons. Now ready to get back on the field, Milton announces today that he has transferred to the Florida State Football program.
A career passer of 8,683 yards through the air and 72 touchdowns, Milton is highly experienced, and will look to transition with the Seminoles rather easily. Head coach Mike Norvell has gotten perhaps the biggest win of his time in Tallahassee to this point by landing Milton to lead the Seminoles in 2021.
Milton sat down with ESPN’s Andrea Adelson to discuss his decision to head to Tallahassee:

"“You see Florida State, the garnet and gold, it speaks for itself… The notoriety the people that have come through there, Deion Sanders, Charlie Ward, Jameis Winston, it speaks for itself. I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity. It’s something I don’t take for granted, especially what I’ve been through the past two years. It’s a very special opportunity, and I feel like we can get that thing turned around in the near future.”"
What Milton will bring to Tallahassee
Norvell has been in need of a quarterback since coming to Tallahassee. He did not have it in the form of James Blackmon, who was one of three big named Seminoles to depart the program at the same time, and Jordan Travis did not grab the job by the horns when given the chance to take it over.
They still have youngsters like Tate Rodemaker and Chubba Purdy on their roster, but it appears the job is now Milton’s to lose. Entering his redshirt senior season now, Milton will look for a fresh start with the Knights after the ascension of Dillon Gabriel at the University of Central Florida. Should his plan come together, he will be back on NFL Draft radars.
