2. Add yet another wide receiver

Another wide receiver in the first round of the NFL Draft in back-to-back years? Two years ago, the Eagles landed Stanford’s J.J. Arcega-Whiteside in the second round, then last year they took Jalen Reagor out of TCU in the first round. However, as Reagor was not used correctly and could not shake free over the top with no other playmakers at receiver, Philadelphia may just find themselves back in the market again in 2021.

There are three names to look towards here for the Eagles should they choose to take a wide receiver. The first being LSU’s Ja’Marr Chase, followed by the duo of Alabama Crimson Tide receivers DeVonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle. Given the deep threat and YAC-ability of Reagor, Waddle seems redundant, leaving either Smith or Chase as the target.

Smith is a smooth technician who knows how to locate space in zone coverage, however despite his underwhelming size profile, he dominates at every level of the field. He separates well both off the line of scrimmage and off of his breaks, he has more speed than people think to win deep, and has Charmin soft hands.

Chase is more of a big bodied receiver who dominates off the line of scrimmage and with physicality at the catchpoint. If the Eagles take another offensive threat, they have their options wide open.
