3. Zach Davidson, Central Missouri

Most of even the most avid football fans aren’t familiar with the Central Missouri Mules and to be honest, neither had I prior to hearing of tight end Zach Davidson. Dating back to 1967 the CMU Mules have only had 11 players drafted and oddly enough the last one was tight end Delanie Walker way back in 2006.

Zach Davidson should be player number 12 on the list of players drafted from his alma mater and will likely hear his name called on day three of the 2021 NFL Draft. If not for the Mules having their entire 2020 season canceled due to coronavirus he would likely be a day two selection. In 36 career games, Davidson totaled 51 receptions for 1,113 yards and 18 total touchdowns. While at Central Missouri, Davidson also doubled as the team’s punter and averaged 42.4 yards per punt so he has position versatility to a degree.

In addition to lining up at the tight end position and punting it wasn’t uncommon for Davidson to line up in the backfield for a carry or to go in motion and has shown he is more than capable of moving along the line of scrimmage as a receiver. Davidson is still very raw at the position and has a lean frame checking in at roughly 6-foot-7 and 245 pounds.

Next. Dyami Brown a big-time threat at discounted cost. dark

Davidson is 100 percent considered to be a project tight end at this stage of his career and will likely need a year or two to add functional weight to compete in the NFL. This selection is a high ceiling and low floor type of situation.
